Non-Newtonian Fluid or "The Custard Walk"

This is one of the most awesome things I've ever seen. In the middle of the video, one guy is floating in it and the other one is walking over it. I wanna try this SO badly. Anyone have a pool they don't mind filling with custard?

By adding corn starch to water, you can create a substance know as "oobleck." This substance is a non-newtonian fluid. When force is applied to these kinds of liquids, they behave like solids. Shear thickening fluids of this sort are even being researched for bullet resistant body armor.

Try it yourself by adding corn starch to a cup of water. Add the starch in small portions and stir it in slowly until it becomes like single cream in consistency. Then try stabbing the surface with a finger, or rapidly inverting its container. More gentle treatment, such as slowly inserting a spoon, will leave it in its liquid state.
